Acid King - Free
The Chipmunx: we are not on acid.
It's been a while between drinks for Baron's Song of the Week.
With my CD collection at home, I've been steadily working my way through the contents of my iPod to share a few downloaded gems with you.
This week I thought I'd share a bit of Acid King with you. This is a lumbering, slow, doom-beast of a song with wicked blurred vocals and a great solo towards the end. However, when I chucked the song onto the site and pressed play I found something very odd had happened.
For some reason the song has been speeded up to about three times its normal rate. Perhaps it was not internet gremlins, but rather chipmunx who were to blame.
Can you hear it? If it starts out like a Blink 182 song, then the munx are smiling. If it starts out with just some slow reverb guitar, then you've got the original. Either way, please enjoy Melvin & The Chipmunks' version of the Acid King song Free. Again, try a set of headphones with this, the quality is pretty shitty.
more than the original now. You really need earphones to hear it, but that mega-down-tuned bass line is now this arfo'd funky walk and the drum rolls super-speed triples on the snare.
Wicked. What a cool accident.
I will buy something special in japan for any band that can record a cover of this song at this speed. See if you can convine Mariah Carey to do the vocals.
I still am seething at the fact the How Odd! was not featured in Samuel's Year in review.
I like the song though and have missed Baron's Song O' The Week.
